Buniyar Temple

One of the best preserved temples of the period.

Standing close to the road that follows the Jhelum out of the Valley, the Buniyar temple still has its enclosing wall, gateway and colonnade, which makes it easier than most ruins to picture what a complete Kashmiri temple looked like.

Facts

  • Its courtyard layout, a central shrine inside a walled enclosure lined with cells, follows the classic Kashmiri plan.
  • It is a protected monument.
