Pahalgam

The village of shepherds in the Lidder valley.

Pahalgam sits where two streams meet to form the Lidder river, surrounded by pine forest and high meadows. Shepherds have long taken their flocks to the pastures above it each summer, and it is the base for the pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave.
