Chashme Shahi

A small garden built around a royal spring.

The governor Ali Mardan Khan built Chashme Shahi, the royal spring, for Shah Jahan. The garden rises in terraces around a spring whose cold water is still believed by many to be good for health.

  • It is the smallest of Srinagar's Mughal gardens.
  • Pari Mahal stands on the hillside just above it.
