Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani

Mir Sayyid Ali Hamadani was a scholar of the Kubrawiya Sufi order who travelled widely across Central Asia. His time in Kashmir, and the scholars and craftsmen who came with him or after him, made him one of the most important figures in the Valley's religious history.

Facts

  • Kashmiris call him Shah-e-Hamadan and Amir-e-Kabir, the great leader.
  • He died in 1384 on his way home and is buried in Kulob, in present-day Tajikistan.
